Signer of the Declaration of Independence from South Carolina (1746–1809). Partly-printed DS, signed “Tho's Heyward Jn'r,” one page, 12.75 x 8.75, July 5, 1785. Heyward directs the sheriffs of South Carolina to apprehend a Charleston man and bring him before the court to answer to a "plea of Debt" in the amount of "five thousand four hundred pounds current money of the said State." Boldly signed in the left margin by Heyward. Handsomely cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and caption to an overall size of 30 x 21. In fine condition.
