LS as president, one page, 9 x 13.25, June 24, 1844. Official letter of state to "His Majesty Ferdinand II, King of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies," congratulating him on the birth of a princess. In part: "I have received the letter which Your Majesty addressed to me on the 14th of April, of the present year, communicating intelligence of the birth of a Princess, on whom the names of Maria Immacolata Clementina had been bestowed. Your Majesty does but justice to the friendly sentiments of the United States in the conviction you have been pleased to express, that they will participate with Your Majesty, and Your Royal Family, in the joy consequent on this happy event; and I beg Your Majesty to accept my sincere congratulations." Gorgeously cloth-matted and framed with an engraved portrait and biographical caption to an overall size of 41 x 25.75. In fine condition. Born to Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies and his wife Maria Theresa of Austria on April 14, 1844, Princess Maria Immaculata of Bourbon-Two Sicilies would go on to become an Austrian archduchess through her marriage to Archduke Karl Salvator of Austria.
