Description

Colorful American financier (1834-1872) who made his fortune on army contracts during the Civil War, then played a leading role in triggering the 'Black Friday' financial crisis of 1869. He was shot and killed after becoming involved in a scandalous romantic triangle. Appealing 2.25 x 3.75 carte-de-visite portrait of Col. James Fisk, Jr. in uniform, handsomely mounted, cloth-matted, and framed with a biographical plaque to an overall size of 14 x 18.5. In fine condition.
