Description

A stock clown costume from the Western Costume Co., rented to Republic Studios for their last serial King of the Carnival (1955), remaining there through the sale to CBS when it became Studio City. Used immediately after by Jay Silverheels in an episode of The Lone Ranger ('Wanted: The Lone Ranger,' May 12, 1955), where they go undercover to a town controlled by outlaws. In 1963, it was worn by Jack Weston in a second season episode of Burke's Law ('Who Killed The Thirteenth Clown?,' February 24, 1965), also at Studio City, and in a 1966 episode of The Wild Wild West ('The Night of the Sudden Death,' October 8, 1965), worn by Ross Martin as Artie, who also goes undercover at a circus in disguise. The colorful two-piece suit features three large pom-poms down the front. Accompanied by an 8 x 10 photograph of the costume being worn in King of the Carnival and a DVD of the Wild Wild West episode 'The Night of the Sudden Death.'.
