French philosopher, author, and journalist (1913–1960) who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957; his best-known works include The Stranger and The Plague. ALS in French, one page, 5.25 x 8.25, July 15, 1954. A handwritten letter from Albert Camus, who writes (translated): “I was curious to read the novel you are writing. The fragments of poetry and prose which you’ve shared were interesting. Despite some errors of form, I sensed an original ‘tone,’ an authentic voice. It’s still a group of suspended fragments, so it’s difficult to render a full opinion. But I wanted to, in any case, convey my sincere interest to you, and to send my cordial wishes.” In fine condition.
