Uncommon twice-signed AMQS from W. C. Handy for his 1917 song ‘Beale Street Blues,’ signed and inscribed in the upper border in black ink, “Beale Street Blues’ to Lionel A. Aucoin from W. C. Handy, 2-7-40,” who adds five bars of music and lyrics on an off-white 9.25 x 3.75 musically lined sheet, with Handy adding below, “This is written 23 years after original with almost blended eyes. W.C.H.” In fine condition. Previously sold by Walter R. Benjamin Autographs, Inc., and accompanied by the noted dealer's folder. An exceptionally desirable musical quote that coincides with the beginning of jazz recordings.
