(Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Beautiful original panoramic concept painting by Mary Blair, showing Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and three mermaids on the moonlit rocks of Neverland's Mermaid Lagoon. Accomplished in tempera on 19 x 9 artist’s board, the scene portrays the characters on a series of black rocks emerging from the lagoon's calm blue waters. Peter Pan is shown in a joyous midair pose, while his fairy friend zips about, leaving a trail of golden pixie dust across the green night sky. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners.
Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World) and, her largest work, the multistory mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
