(Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Marvelous original panoramic concept painting by Mary Blair of Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily, and her father, the Chief, around a fire in Neverland's Indian Village. Accomplished in tempera on 18.5 x 9 artist’s board, the painting shows the moment when Peter Pan safely returns Tiger Lily to her father after she was kidnapped by Captain Hook. Blair sets the scene below a vivid pink sky, balancing one side with a friendly celebratory fire and the other with a rising cliff lined with trees and Native tipis. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners.
Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World) and, her largest work, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
