American sculptor (1883–1952) celebrated for his realistic portrait busts, among them Henry D. Thoreau, Albert Einstein, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mohandas Gandhi, James Joyce, Helen Keller, Walt Whitman, and dozens more. Partly-printed DS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.5 x 14, June 10, 1949. Agreement between Jo Davidson and the Dial Press for the publication of "an autobiography of not less than 150,000 words which shall include pictorial material, photographs and drawings, of his lifetime work." Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Jo Davidson, George W. Joel of the Dial Press, and two witnesses. In fine condition.
