From Washington to JFK, a signature collection of the first 35 American Presidents

Meticulous signature collection of the first 35 Presidents of the United States of America, starting with George Washington and ending with John F. Kennedy, signed primarily on clipped slips and cards ranging in size from 1.75 x .75 to 8 x 5.25. The list reads as follows:

1. George Washington
Ink signature, "Go: Washington," on an off-white 3.25 x .75 slip.

2. John Adams
Ink signature, "J. Adams," on an off-white 2 x 1 slip, affixed to a slightly larger sheet.

3. Thomas Jefferson
Ink signature, "Th: Jefferson," on an off-white 1.75 x .75 slip.

4. James Madison
Ink signature as president, "James Madison," on a 6.75 x 3.75 document dated July 13, 1811, attesting to Madison affixing the seal of the United States to another document.

5. James Monroe
Ink signature, "Jas. Monroe," on an off-white 3 x 1.25 off-white slip.

6. John Quincy Adams
Ink signature, "J. Q. Adams," on an off-white 3 x 1.25 off-white slip, affixed to a same-size card.

7. Andrew Jackson
Partial ALS signed “Your affectionate father, Andrew Jackson,” one page, 8 x 2.5, no date, clipped from a handwritten letter sent to his daughter-in-law, “Sarah,” which concludes with a postscript from Jackson: “PS. Let me know when you will be ready to return to me, when I will have arrangements made to bring you."

8. Martin Van Buren
Ink signature, "truly yours, M. Van Buren," on an off-white 3.25 x 1 blue slip clipped from the close of a letter and affixed to a same-size card.

9. William Henry Harrison
Ink signature, “W. H. Harrison," on an off-white 3 x .75 slip clipped from a document.

10. John Tyler
Ink franking signature, "J. Tyler," on an off-white 3.25 x 1.5 slip with a “FREE” stamp.

11. James K. Polk
Ink signature as president, "James K. Polk," on an off-white 5.25 x 2.25 sheet clipped from a document dated June 14, 1847.

12. Zachary Taylor
Manuscript DS signed, “Z. Taylor, Col. Comdg,” one page, 8 x 5.25, March 1833. Taylor signs a requisition for one cord of wood for the Commanding Officers Office at Fort Crawford.

13. Millard Fillmore
Ink signature, “Millard Fillmore,” on an off-white 4.5 x 1.5 sheet.

14. Franklin Pierce
Ink signature, "Franklin Pierce," on an off-white 4.75 x 2.25 sheet.

15. James Buchanan
ALS signed “James Buchanan,” one page, 4.5 x 7.25, December 21, 1861. A handwritten letter to a collector: "It affords me pleasure to comply with your request by presenting you my autograph."

16. Abraham Lincoln
Ink signature, “A. Lincoln,” on an off-white 2 x 1 slip affixed to a slightly larger sheet.

17. Andrew Johnson
Ink signature, “Andrew Johnson, April 8th, 1864,” on an off-white 5.5 x 2.5 lightly-lined sheet.

18. U.S. Grant
Ink signature, “U. S. Grant,” on an off-white 2.5 x .5 slip clipped from a document and affixed to a same-size card.

19. Rutherford B. Hayes
Ink signature, “R. B. Hayes,” on an off-white 3.25 x .75 slip.

20. James A. Garfield
Hand-addressed and free-franked mailing envelope, 5.75 x 3.25, addressed in Garfield's hand to “Prof. B. A. Hundale,” of Hiram, Ohio, and franked in the upper right, “J. A. Garfield MC.”

Ink signature as president, “Chester A. Arthur, Feb'y 16, 1882,” on an off-white 5 x 3 album page.

22. Grover Cleveland
Ink signature, “Grover Cleveland,” on an off-white 4 x 1.25 off-white sheet.

23. Benjamin Harrison
Ink signature, “Benj. Harrison,” on an off-white 5.5 x 1 sheet clipped from the close of a typed letter.

24. William McKinley
Ink signature, "Yours very truly, Wm. McKinley," on an off-white 3.25 x 2.5 card.

25. Theodore Roosevelt
Ink signature, “T. Roosevelt,” on an off-white 3.75 x 2.5 card.

26. William H. Taft
Ink signature, “With pleasure, Sincerely yours, Wm. H. Taft, New Haven, Apr 29th 1919,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2.5 card.

27. Woodrow Wilson
Ink signature, “Woodrow Wilson,” on an off-white 4 x 1.25 slip clipped from the close of a typed letter and affixed to same-size piece of cardstock.

28. Warren G. Harding
Ink signature, “W. G. Harding,” on an off-white 3 x .75 slip.

29. Calvin Coolidge
Ink signature, “Calvin Coolidge,” on an off-white 4 x 2.25 Vice President's Chambers card.

30. Herbert Hoover
Ink signature, “The compliments of Herbert Hoover,” on an off-white 5.25 x 3 sheet.

31. Franklin D. Roosevelt
Ink signature, “Franklin D. Roosevelt,” on an off-white 5.25 x 2.25 slip clipped from the close of a typed letter.

32. Harry S. Truman
Ink signature, “Harry S. Truman,” on an off-white 4.5 x 2 slip clipped from the close of a typed letter.

33. Dwight D. Eisenhower
Felt tip signature, “Dwight D. Eisenhower,” on an off-white 5.25 x 2.25 sheet with an inscription in another hand.

34. John F. Kennedy
Ballpoint signature, “Best wishes, John F. Kennedy,” on an off-white 4 x 3.5 sheet.

In overall very good to fine condition, with professional repairs to several vertical separations on the Jackson, and a small pinhole of paper loss to a single letter of Fillmore’s last name. An impressive collection that contains all of the most desirable and elusive presidential names.
