Leatherbound guest book from Truman's Air Force One plane nicknamed the 'Sacred Cow,' 8 x 11, signed on five detached interior pages by over seventy individuals, dated from 1945 to 1948, including: Harry S. Truman (4), Bess Truman, Margaret Truman, Herbert Hoover, Vice President Alben W. Barkley, Supreme Court Justice James F. Byrnes, Admiral William D. Leahy, Senator Arthur H. Vandenberg, Hap Arnold, and many others, including members of the Pendergast family. In very good condition, with scattered foxing and significant bleeding to some signatures (including one of Truman's). Accompanied by two candid photos, one showing Truman boarding the plane and one of the plane from a distance. One of the Truman signatures is dated December 25, 1945, when he made a risky flight home to Missouri from Washington for Christmas during bad weather; all normal commercial flights had been canceled and Truman was widely criticized for making the trip. This guest book belonged to Hank Myers, the pilot of the 'Sacred Cow,' and is also accompanied by a copy of an article he wrote entitled 'I Fly the President.' A decidedly unique assemblage of autographs from a significant aircraft.
