Quick-tempered Hall of Famer who, after a very successful career as a player from 1891 through 1906, became known as one of the greatest managers in baseball history (1873-1934). Scarce 6 x 9 menu for a dinner honoring sheet music illustrator and Broadway lyricist Gene Buck, held by The Lambs on January 19, 1919, signed inside in ink by dozens of attendees, highlighted by John J. McGraw. Among other notable signers are Gene Buck himself (on the front cover), composer Victor Herbert, vaudeville actor DeWolf Hopper (known for his performances of the popular baseball poem 'Casey at the Bat'), and pioneering movie executive Marcus Loew. In very good condition, with soiling, creases, and tears repaired with old tape.
