Description

Russian ballerina (1885-1978) renowned for her beauty, most noted as a Principal Artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and later the Ballets Russes of Serge Diaghilev. After settling in England, she began teaching ballet professionally and would become recognized as one of the founders of modern British ballet. ALS, one page, 8 x 10, Four Albert Road, Regent's Park letterhead, March 6, 1932. Handwritten letter from Tamara Karsavina, in part: “Many thanks for your kind invitation. I would love to come to your party, though not certain whether I will be through with my rehearsal as it is the eve of my matinee.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope.
