Two original reels of 1/4″ analog audio tape for Prince's song 'P Control,' the first track on his 17th studio album The Gold Experience. The reels are labeled in red ink and housed in white cardboard boxes with matching labels denoting the track, version, tape speed, reference level, and calibration. The labels read: "P. Control, Copy A, 7.5 IPS, 1 KHZ @ 0 V.U, +3/185, 30 NDF," and "P. Control, Copy B, 7.5 IPS, 1 KHZ @ 0 V.U, +3/185, 30 NDF." In overall fine condition. Originally titled 'Pussy Control'—but toned down due to concerns that retailers would not carry the album—Prince produced several remixes and variants of the track.
The consignor, one of Prince's former bodyguards, notes: "They were given to me by Prince when I was working with him in the mid 90s. These were recordings but he was working on during The Gold Experience album and working on different variations of two particular songs. I've never taken them out of the original packaging other than just opening up the cover to take a few pictures. These tracks were given to me by Prince when we were leaving the studio in LA and heading back to Minneapolis."
