American business executive (1875-1966) who was the longtime president and CEO of General Motors. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of the General Motors president in a handsome half-length pose in later age, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “For Edward Orio, with best regards, Alfred P. Sloan, Jr., New York, June 7, 1955." Accompanied by a secretarially signed transmittal letter, June 9, 1955, in part: “I have your letter of May 30th and take pleasure in sending you herewith an autographed photograph which I hope will reach you safely. I appreciate your wanting it.” In overall very good to fine condition, with a light vertical crease passing through the image, just grazing Sloan's left temple.
