German Romantic composer (1854-1921) best known for the opera Hansel und Gretel. Two ALSs in German from Engelbert Humperdinck signed “Prof. Dr. E. Humperdinck.” The first handwritten letter is untranslated, one page, 4.5 x 7, dated October 20, 1898, and the second is to the writer and theologian Walther Nithack-Stahn in Berlin, penned on both sides of a 5.5 x 3.5 postal card, October 25, 1920, in part (translated): “Miss Margarete Bruch...has just written to me that her father’s childhood memories, which she has promised to send to me, have been in your hands for some time...I ask you to kindly send it to me.” In overall fine condition.
