ALS signed “William,” 7.5 x 9, January 11, 1821. Handwritten letter to the theologian and antiquary Reverend Thomas Boys, conveying the King’s permission “to dedicate his sermons to His Majesty.” Includes a letter to the prince from the King’s private secretary, Sir B. Bloomfield, regarding the same subject: “The King has been pleased to accept the dedication of the volume of Sermons about to be published by the Reverend Thomas Boys.” In very good to fine condition, with a short edge tear and some light staining. Accompanied by a modern photo print of King William IV, the reverse of which bears a label from the National Portrait Gallery of London.
