Pope, born Giacomo della Chiesa (1854-1922), who reigned from 1914 to 1922. Maintaining strict neutrality during WWI, he advanced several peace proposals and did much to aid war victims. Autograph manuscript signed “Benedictus P.P. XV,” one page, 11.5 x 16, March 12, 1915. A handwritten apostolic benediction in Italian, which features a fantastic portrait of Pope Benedict XV affixed above. In very good to fine condition, with a light bend and light silvering to the image, and scattered light foxing to the mount.
