Released a year after its predecessor, Marathon 2 was Bungie’s third first-person shooter video game, but not its last. For their next FPS, the company released Halo: Combat Evolved as the launch title for Microsoft's Xbox game console on November 15, 2001. Halo became a critical and commercial success and is often praised as one of the greatest video games ever made.
