Description

Two ticket stubs from the historic Berlin 1936 Summer Games, 4 x 2.75 x 4.5 x 2.25, issued for a ‘Schwimmen [Swimming]” event on August 10th at the Schwimm Stadium, and a “Baseball-Vorführung [Baseball Demonstration]” on August 12th at the Olympic Stadium. In overall fine condition.

Baseball was a demonstration sport at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. The single exhibition game was played on August 12, 1936, prior to the track and field competitions between two American teams. The single-nation arrangement had been made after the original matchup between Japan and the United States was scrapped after the Japanese team withdrew. The two teams were named the World Champions and the U. S. Olympics, with the former winning 6-5 in front of 90,000 spectators in Berlin's Olympic Stadium. Although Japan opted out of the baseball demo, they certainly excelled in the swimming events; Japanese swimmers amassed 11 total medals – the most of any nation – including four golds.
