Elizabeth II approves a diplomatic appointment as "Queen of South Africa"

DS in English and Afrikaans, signed “Elizabeth R.,” one page, 17.5 x 13.5, April 3, 1957. Commission by “Elizabeth II, Queen of South Africa and of Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth,” who approves the appointment of H. Gordon Minnigerode as “Consul-General of the United States of America in Cape Town,” which was issued by “Our Good Friend the President of the United States of America.” Signed neatly in the upper left corner by Queen Elizabeth. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 23.75 x 19.75. In very good to fine condition, with fading to the signature, and light dampstaining to the bottom edge.
