Description

ALS, one page, 8 x 10, July 17, 1851. Handwritten letter to Thomas J. McCamant, in part: "My niece who was to be & is to be my companion to the valley of Wyoming left here on the day before yesterday with a party from Philadelphia. The trip is therefore postponed but not abandoned & we shall certainly take Pottsville on our way...I am gratified to learn the favorable opinion which Mr. Hughes entertains for me personally. On my part, this is cordially reciprocated. He well deserves the high estimation in which he is held." Affixed to a same-size sheet and in fine condition, with intersecting folds, trimmed edges, and light wrinkling from mounting.
