Revolutionary War general, first United States Secretary of War, and founder of the military school that became West Point (1750-1806). Partly-printed DS, signed “H. Knox,” one page, 12.75 x 16, July 11, 1794. Indenture certificate for a land transaction between Henry Knox and Joseph Anthony, by which Knox sells "all that tract of Land lying and being in the bay of Penobscot County of Hancock and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, called Long Island, or Winslow's Island, containing five thousand, eight hundred, and eighty three acres more or less" for the sum of "twenty six thousand dollars in specie." Signed at the conclusion in ink by Henry Knox and his wife, Lucy Knox, as well as two witnesses. Framed and in fine condition, with light rippling and scattered stains.
