ALS, one page, 8 x 10, May 2, 1833. Handwritten letter to Henry Toland, his friend and business agent, regarding arrangements being made at his home, the Hermitage. In part: "Andrew & Sarah...returned all in good health...I am gratified to learn that you and yours were enjoying equal good health. Andrew informs me that you had the goodness to purchase some china carpets for the Hermitage...include it in the bill for the plate and I will send you a check...inform me the usual periods for your packetts for New Orleans to leave Philadelphia. I have some articles here that I wish to send to Nashville via New Orleans...the drought in the west...it may be best to detain them until the fall, least they might not reach Nashville before, owing to the low water." In very good to fine condition, with old tape stains along the edges. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from JSA.
