Description

Desirable first appearances of Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Conqueror Worm" and articles "The Poetry of Rufus Dawes" and "Our Amateur Poets, No. I.—Flaccus," in a collection of Graham's Lady's and Gentleman's Magazines bound as a single book (Vol. XXI, No. 1-6, July-December 1842 and Vol. XXII, No. 1-6, January-June 1843). Leatherbound hardcover, 6.5 x 10.75, totaling approximately 711 pages, plus illustrated plates. Book condition: G/None, with edgewear, rubbing to boards, binding cracked in the February 1843 section, and scattered staining throughout.

One of Poe's more popular poems, "The Conqueror Worm" was first published as a stand-alone poem in the January 1843 issue of Graham's Magazine; it later became associated with his short story "Ligeia," as he incorporated it into a revised version of the text in 1845.
