President Buchanan appoints Richard Thiele as “Consul of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg at New Orleans.” Signed crisply at the conclusion by James Buchanan, and countersigned by Secretary of State Lewis Cass. The original paper seal remains affixed to the lower left corner. In fine condition, with light creasing along the bottom.
