Description

British physicist and chemist (1791-1867) best known for his development of the first dynamo and the discovery of electromagnetic induction. ALS signed “M. Faraday,” one page, 4.5 x 7, April 1, 1840. Handwritten letter to friend John Barlow (1799-1869), an Anglican cleric and Secretary of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, in full: "I find on my list previous to your favor, Lady Seymour, Alderman Kelby and perhaps some others. I have not yet read them. May I write or send for them or will you help me?" In fine condition. Accompanied by an original 2 x 3.5 albumen portrait photo of Faraday in a full-length pose, which is affixed to a slightly larger cardstock mount.
