Description

Partial manuscript DS, signed “Anne R,” one page, 7 x 7, no date (circa 1702). Queen Anne seemingly approves the reimbursement of several funds for "Our Right Trusty and Welbeloved Cousin and Counsellour Thomas Earle of Strafford” to cover expenses incurred for his “service in the Court of the King of Prussia,” which were not paid as an Extraordinary disbursement. The queen signs her name prominently at the top. Affixed to a square backing sheet, the reverse of which bears an affixed signed declaration from Henry Thomas Scott, M.D., Oxford, stating that he obtained the signed piece from the collection of Beresford R. Eaton, Esq., and sent it to Reverend J. C. Westley of New Amsterdam, Berbice, British Guiana, on August 9, 1897. In very good condition, with staining and substantial paper loss, none of which affects the signature itself.
