Civil War-dated endorsement, signed "G. A. Custer," on a 3.25 x 2.25 slip, dated at the Headquarters of the 3rd Cavalry Division, December 13, 1863. Custer signs an endorsement as commander of the 3rd Division, in full: "Approved and respectfully forwarded." Nicely mounted and suede-matted to an overall size of 18 x 15.75. In fine condition. Custer had been promoted to brigadier general on June 29, 1863, for his gallant conduct at Aldie, and went on to serve with distinction through the Gettysburg and Shenandoah Valley campaigns.
