Early television role for the 21-year-old James Dean

DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, January 7, 1953. Single engagement agreement contract between NBC and James Dean, with the latter agreeing to appear as an actor on the “Kate Smith Show” for a broadcast airing on January 15, 1953, for the sum of $200. Signed neatly at the conclusion in black ink by Dean, who below adds telephone and social security numbers, and the name of his agent. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from JSA. Dean appeared as The Messenger in The Kate Smith Hour episode ‘The Hound of Heaven,’ which featured John Carradine as a recently deceased man who refuses to enter heaven without his beloved hound, Rip. A very desirable contract dated to one of Dean’s earliest roles as an actor.
