Rare medal for the Third International Sports Competition held in Mexico City in 1967 as a preview to the city’s hosting of the 1968 Summer Olympics. Silver-tone, 142 gm, 51 mm x 51 mm, with the front featuring the 1968 Mexico City Games logo and engraved text, “Tercera Competencia Deportiva Internacional 1967,” and the reverse bears a stylized coat of arms of Mexico. Includes the original wooden presentation case, an Olympic patch with German colors, and a small ribbon with Mexican colors.
The consignor notes that the medal derives from the collection of Walther Troger, an IOC Honorary Member and the former President of the German National Olympic Committee.
