Description

Impressive retirement presentation for Flight Controller Alan Glines, comprised of an oversized color semi-glossy 17 x 16 NASA photo of the Space Shuttle Enterprise affixed to a 21 x 20 cardstock board, which is signed in ink and felt tip by 53 Space Shuttle and Skylab astronauts, including four STS-51-L. Astronauts include: Judy Resnick, Ellison S. Onizuka, Dick Scobee, Ron McNair, Alan Bean, John Young, Bob Crippen, Sally Ride, Vance Brand, Dick Truly, Rhea Seddon, Bruce McCandless II, Gordon Fullerton, Owen Garriott, Ed Gibson, Guion Bluford, Jack Lousma, Paul Weitz, and many more, including all of NASA Astronaut Group 8, the 'Thirty-Five New Guys' recruited for the Space Shuttle program. The upper border is inscribed: “To Alan: Best wishes from the Astronaut Office!” The board is affixed to a slightly larger cardstock mount. In very good to fine condition, with a scratch to the bottom of the image, and toning to the mount from prior display.

Alan Glines served as the lead Integrated Communications Officer (INCO) during NASA's Apollo 13 mission in April 1970 and rose to serve as assistant flight director for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in 1975.
