(Walt Disney Studios, 1941) Original concept painting of pink elephants from Dumbo, ostensibly done by Disney animator Maurice Noble, who worked on color coordination and character design for Dumbo, including the mesmerizing ‘pink elephant’ sequence. Accomplished in gouache on black 15.5 x 12.5 artist paper, the scene shows the four ‘bubble’ hallucinations from the perspective of Dumbo, who became inebriated after having accidentally drank champagne spilled into a circus water vat. The total image measures 11 x 11.5. In fine condition. An early imagining of a particularly surreal Disney moment.
