Magnificent color vintage glossy 14.5 x 17 photo of President John F. Kennedy seated at his desk inside the White House's Oval Office, matted to an overall size of 21 x 24.5, signed on the mat in fountain pen to his brother-in-law, the actor Peter Lawford, "For Peter—who helped make this picture possible—with all of the best—Jack." Impressively framed and in very fine condition.
British-born actor Peter Lawford married Kennedy's younger sister, Patricia, in 1954, and became a citizen of the United States in April 1960, in time to vote for his brother-in-law in the upcoming presidential election. Throughout the campaign, Lawford and his fellow members of the 'Rat Pack' campaigned on Kennedy's behalf—Frank Sinatra famously dubbed him 'Brother-in-Lawford' during this period. The endorsements of Lawford, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Joey Bishop did much for Kennedy's popularity, connecting him to the glitz and glamor of Hollywood's elite. Kennedy recognizes Lawford's influence in this inscription, thanking him for helping to "make this picture possible."
