Iconic custom-made elegant pearl costume necklace screen-used by Prince in the 1991 'Diamonds and Pearls' music video. Contemplative solo sequences throughout the video show Prince handling the necklace, which is beautifully crafted from several strands of faux pearls: four strands to loop around the neck, choker style, with twelve strands dangling below, each terminating in a fine pearloid teardrop. The many strands of faux pearls meet at an ornate silver-tone Art Deco center clasp, inset with faux diamonds in emerald and round-cut shapes. In very fine condition.
Consignor notes that this was acquired directly from the jewelry maker, and that it was one of five examples ordered by Prince's wardrobe department for use in the 'Diamonds and Pearls' music video.
