President John F. Kennedy's official White House press pass from a trip to New York on May 23, 1963, measuring 3″ in diameter, retaining its original blue cord. The pass reads: "White House Press, Trip of the President, May 23, 1963." In fine condition.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by JFK's personal secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, in full: "On May 23, 1963 President John F. Kennedy had a speaking engagement in New York at a Fundraising dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Before leaving passes were issued to White House Press, which entitled them to ride on Air Force Two. This pass, which you now have in your possession, is one of those passes. It ended up in the President's pocket where it remained until George, his valet, removed it the next morning. He sent it over to the Oval Office, along with other papers. It was discarded."
Provenance: John F. Kennedy: The Robert L. White Collection, Lot 412, Guernsey's, December 2005.
