Garfield, Hiram, Ohio,” as well as numerous members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives, many of which stem from the 38th or 39th United States Congress, including: William H. Seward, William Maxwell Evarts, John Palmer Usher, Hamilton Fish, Morrison Remick Waite, Carl Schurz, Noah C. McFarland, Joseph E. Johnston, William P. Fessenden, Henry Wilson, Ira Harris, Henry S. Lane, Charles R. Buckalew, Lafayette S. Foster, William Sprague, John Conness, James H. Lane, Willard Saulsbury, Sr., James Dixon, Peter G. Van Winkle, James R. Doolittle, Edwin D. Morgan, John Sherman, Henry B. Anthony, Benjamin F. Wade, and more. Several ‘cut signature’ examples have been affixed inside.
