Partly-printed DS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 23 x 19, October 23, 1877. President Hayes appoints Abraham D. Hazen of Pennsylvania “to be Third Assistant Postmaster General.” Signed neatly at the conclusion by Rutherford B. Hayes and countersigned by Secretary of State William M. Evarts. The embossed white seal remains affixed to the left side. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, and light creasing and soiling.
