Description

DS signed “George R. I.,” one page, 8 x 13, March 29, 1927. Issued to the “Sheriff of our County of York and to the Governor of Our Prison at Wakefield,” a document approving the prisoner release of Harold Ernest Dadewell: “Whereas the Commissioners of Our Treasury have recommended unto Us that the recognizance of £50 forfeited by Harold Ernest Dadswell at the Ripon Quarter Sessions Easter 1926 should be vacated and discharged, and the said Harold Ernest Dadewell be released from custody so far as relates to his imprisonment for non-payment of the same. To which We are graciously pleased to condescend. Our Will and Pleasure is and we do hereby authorise and command you to vacate and discharge the said recognizance and to release the said Harold Ernest Dadswell from custody forthwith so far as relates to his imprisonment for non-payment of the same.” Signed nicely in the upper right by King George V. In very good to fine condition, with light toning, soiling, and edge wear.
