Description

Early ANS signed “Victoria R.,” one black-bordered page, 4.5 x 7.25, no date. A handwritten note from the queen: “Some of Her Majesty’s Tradespeople. This request to be granted.” In very good to fine condition, with tears and paper loss to the edges. Although undated, a pencil notation to the lower left, "Written within one week of H.M.'s Accession," indicates that this note was written soon after the death of King William IV, who passed on June 20, 1837, hence the mourning stationery. If this is indeed true, this note represents one of the very earliest handwritten messages from the new sitting queen, then only 18 years of age.
