LS signed “J. A. Garfield,” one page, 5 x 8, June 25, 1880. Letter to Mr. Hunter in New York, in full: "Accept my thanks for yours of the 10th—which is all I have time to say." Nicely mounted, cloth-matted, and framed with an original cabinet photo and program for Garfield's Inauguration Ball on March 4, 1881, to an overall size of 19.5 x 25.5. In fine condition, with light toning from prior display. Garfield had just been nominated as the Republican candidate for president on June 8th at the RNC in Chicago. Based on the timing of this letter, it is likely that he was replying to a congratulatory note on his candidacy.
