Uncommon vintage model of the Pioneer Venus Multiprobe by Scale Models Unlimited, scale 8-percent, measuring 8″ in diameter and 7.75″ tall, suspended to a height of 16″ from atop a wooden base with an engraved plate: “Pioneer Venus Multiprobe, Scale 8 percent.” The base, 10″ x 8″ x 1″, also bears an affixed inventory label and a parts label, which reads: “803226 8079S116 01, Org: 999, Item Name: Model, Pioneer Venus, Mfg. Name: Scale Model, Co., FSC: 6910, Condition Code: 4.” In very good to fine condition, with a crack to cylinder, scattered dings and scuffs, wear to foil, and staining to the base. The Pioneer Venus Multiprobe, also known as the Pioneer Venus program's Day Probe and Night Probe, was another component of the larger Pioneer Venus mission that aimed to study Venus, Earth's neighboring planet. Launched alongside the Pioneer Venus Orbiter in 1978, the Multiprobe had a specific focus on investigating Venus's atmosphere through a series of atmospheric entry probes.
