Uncommon vintage model of the Pioneer Venus Orbiter by Scale Models Unlimited, scale 8-percent, measuring 8.5″ in diameter and 10″ tall (with antennae), suspended to a height of 16.5″ from atop a wooden base with an engraved plate: “Pioneer Venus Orbiter, Scale 8 percent.” The base, 10″ x 8″ x 1″, also bears an affixed inventory label and a parts label, which reads: “803226 8079S117 01, Org: 999, Item Name: Model, Pioneer Venus, Mfg. Name: Scale Model, Co., FSC: 6910, Condition Code: 4.” In very good to fine condition, with light wear and scuffs, wear to foil, a noticeable chip to upper plate, and portion of antenna absent. The Pioneer Venus Orbiter was a NASA spacecraft launched in 1978 as part of the Pioneer Venus mission, which aimed to study various traits of the planet Venus, including atmospheric composition, atmospheric dynamics, clouds and weather, surface temperature and topography, and solar wind interaction.
