Skylab-era Saturn V Instrument Unit Analog VHF Radio Frequency Assembly, measuring 10.5″ x 3.5″ x 12.25″, with the top plate bearing a NASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center parts tag that reads: “RF Assy Analog 250.7 MC, Assy No. 50Z13011-13, Mod. No. II, Contr. No. NAS-8-14000, Accept Date 1-19-73, Serial No. 432, Wt. (LB) 18.50, Mfd. By Brown Engineering Co.” The front features three ports and the underside is stamped “50M65477-1” and etched “#88.” In fine condition, with scattered scuffs and marks.
The Saturn V Instrument Unit Analog VHF Radio Frequency Assembly was a component of the Instrument Unit (IU) of the Saturn V rocket, which was used by NASA during the Apollo and Skylab programs. The IU was located at the top of the third stage (S-IVB) of the Saturn V rocket and served as the guidance, navigation, and control system for the vehicle.
The Analog VHF Radio Frequency Assembly was part of the IU's communication system. It played a role in transmitting and receiving analog radio frequency signals in the Very High Frequency (VHF) range. These signals were used for communication between the Saturn V rocket and ground control, as well as with other components of the rocket during its mission.
