Rare and controversial original color poster for a Led Zeppelin concert held at Southampton University's The Old Refectory, Student Union Building on January 22, [1973], 19.25 x 29, depicting two SS officers posing with a seductive woman, with ticket information listed below. Professionally linen-backed and restored to very fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
In autumn 1972, Clive Fisher was Events Secretary at Southampton University, England. Led Zeppelin asked if they could play the Old Refectory on January 22, 1973, the day after they played Southampton Gaumont. Clive had a few posters printed for the concert which depicted two menacing German SS officers and a gartered Fräulein looking rather provocative.
Little did Clive know at the time that his poster would be considered amongst Led Zeppelin collectors and dealers alike as the most desirable Led Zeppelin concert poster to own. Unfortunately, Peter Grant, Led Zeppelin's manager, thought the poster entirely offensive. He had any he could find taken down and stuffed in rubbish bins. As a result, an original poster is almost impossible to find. They rarely surface, and, having been made on such thin paper stock, those that do are usually in very poor shape. This example has been expertly restored to very fine condition.
