Description

Italian Pope (1881-1963), born Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, who ascended the papal throne in 1958 and served until his death. As the guiding force behind the historic Second Vatican Council, John ushered in the most sweeping reforms the Catholic Church had undergone in centuries. Well-composed vintage matte-finish 7 x 9.5 photo of Pope John XXIII reading in front of a large window, neatly signed in fountain pen, "Joannes XXIII, PP., 15-IX-60." Reverse bears the credit stamp of "Pontifica Fotografia Felici." In fine to very fine condition.
