Lot of 10 vintage photos of noted conductors and composers, glossy and matte-finish, ranging in size from 7.25 x 9.25 to 8.5 x 10.75, individually affixed to a cardstock mount, each signed in ink or fountain pen by the pictured conductor or composer, the majority inscribed: John Barbirolli, Thomas Beecham, Frank Black, Benny Goodman, Ferde Grofe, Serge Koussevitzky, Dimitri Mitropoulos, Donald Moore, Erno Rapee, and Artur Rodzinski. In overall very good to fine condition, with glue stains to the Rappe.
From the autographed portrait collection of Harry Friedgut, the first managing director of the New York City Center of Music and Drama. A champion of New Jersey’s musical arts, Friedgut also served as the first managing director of the Griffith Music Foundation and as the Vice President and Business Manager of the Essex County Symphony Society, through which he directed the Town Hall series and organized the very successful summer stadium concerts.
