English entertainers and conjoined twins (1908-1969) who were exhibited in Europe as children, toured the United States sideshow, vaudeville and American burlesque circuits in the 1920s and 1930s, and were best known for their film appearances in cult classics Freaks and Chained for Life. Rare vintage glossy 8 x 10 Bloom Studio of Chicago photo of famed conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Audrey, hoping we will meet some time again, success + happiness, always, Daisy Sawyer" and "and Violet Hilton, Jan. 30, 1942.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and light rippling to the left side. Daisy was married for two weeks to dancer Harold Estep alias Buddy Sawyer. Legally she was already divorced by the end of 1941, but nonetheless signed this photo with her married name. This is the first example that we have seen signed in this manner.
