Description

Hungarian-born American film director (1886-1962) who helmed such all-time classics as Casablanca, Angels with Dirty Faces, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and White Christmas. Nominated four times for an Academy Award as Best Director, he won the Oscar for Casablanca. DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, November 18, 1946. Curtiz's application to the Friars Club of California, nominated by friars Bing Crosby and George Jessel. The form also lists Bob Hope and James Kern as some of Curtiz’s club acquaintances. Signed twice at the conclusion by Curtiz, who strikes one out after mistakenly signing on the wrong line. In fine condition.
