Description

Bogart discusses holiday plans with his Warner Bros. boss: “There is no better way to spend that vacation…than to go overseas and entertain the armed forces”

World War II-dated TLS, one page, 6.75 x 10, September 13, 1943. Letter to Jack L. Warner, the president of Warner Bros. Studios, in full: “When I went from ‘Conflict’ into ‘Passage to Marseilles,’ I was assured by Steve Trilling that if I didn't take any time off between these two pictures then I would have a long vacation when I completed ‘Passage.’ I feel that there is no better way to spend that vacation then [sic] to go overseas and entertain the armed forces — and I have been requested to do this by General Osborne. Naturally, the Victory Committee must get consent from you for my overseas appearances, but in the event they don't get this consent I will take my long vacation as promised to me by the studio. Will you please drop me a line and let me know your reaction as I should like to make my plans as soon as possible.” Double-cloth-matted and framed with a photo of Bogart to an overall size of 20.75 x 16.5. In fine condition, with one small file hole to the upper blank area.
